ABOUT US

In 1971, the Baker family opened a small convenience store and tire changing station on Sugar Hill Road, just outside of Marion. Father George Baker and sons Paul and George Jr. each held a share in the business. Later, Dad Baker passed the business on to his sons. Back then, gas was pumped, and windshields were cleaned for customers.

As the tire and store business grew, the market expanded, and additional bays and lifts were added to the garage. In 1981, Paul Baker and his wife, Frances, bought out brother George Jr. and managed the market and garage six days a week. When their sons Ivan and Nathan were old enough, they began helping after school and on Saturdays.

The business continued to grow and eventually outgrew its original location, prompting plans to build a new automotive shop separate from the market. In 2008, the new shop opened just down the street, allowing for more customers and the addition of services such as alignments, front-end work, A/C repairs, and increased brake jobs and routine maintenance.

In August 2020, Ivan Baker, Paul and Frances’ son, returned to help manage the garage, soon joined by his wife, Crystal. Now, in 2024, their oldest son Ian has also returned to work at the garage after graduating from Appalachian State University. We are proud to say that we are a three-generation-run business. Each generation continues to learn from the previous one while implementing new ideas to keep us growing and up to date.
